The National Education Union is the largest education union in Europe. It has led the conversation on a number of the most pressing issues in education since its formation in 2017, from schools’ COVID responses to teacher pay. Last year, our strike action secured a 6.5% pay rise for every teacher in the country. Together, we can improve education in this country: for teachers, for children and for society as a whole.
South Tyneside is an active district, returning almost 70% of ballots in the Pay Up! campaign last year, with significant increases in membership across the district. However, we’re always looking to grow further, and welcome contact from anyone looking to get involved in the union, whether as a rep at your school, getting involved in local and national campaigns or with one of our training opportunities.
